Queraline Chapter 31
Sitting there, Querl just breathed. He tried not to think of the lifeless dolls, torn apart at the circus. How so many died, helping him, knowing that helping him would kill them. White Luornu’s last, sweet, smile as she gave him the earring. Other Chuck telling him to run and trying to throw him the ball. Other Clark’s lifeless button eyes… And Querl was tired, filthy from the cobwebs and hungry but overwhelmingly tired. He curled up on the floor, ignoring the tears escaping his eyes. Three sets of hands wiped away Querl’s tears and when he could open his eyes, he could see the forms of the ghost children, all in gold and solid like angels on top of a Christmas tree. “It was a mighty fine thing you’ve done for us,” the first ghost girl smiled, the gentleness reminding him of Clark’s smile, “We’re sorry it caused you so much hurt.” “I can’t complain too much,” Querl stated, “I survived.” “So far,” the

Lois stared at Querl. Querl stared at Lois. They both leaned in. They puckered their lips. Lois all but jumped back, “I can’t do it!” Stopping his stop watch, Jimmy laughed, “You lost kiss chicken, and in record time too.” That made Lois huff, “It’s too weird,” she turned to Querl, “How come you’re never the one to chicken out?” Querl just raised an eyebrow, as if it was obvious, “Because I know you will so I don’t need to.” Huffing again, Lois ran her fingers through her short hair, “Who’s bright idea was this again?” “Yours,” Jimmy and Querl reminded her. “Well, it was a dumb idea,” Lois grumbled. “No it wasn’t,” corrected Querl, “You are correct in saying it would be better for the relationship if you and I liked each other like we both like Clark, but I think we’re just going about it the wrong way since this isn’t something we can force.”

“This is my boyfriend Clark and this is Clark’s boyfriend Querl,” Lois announced, face challenging anyone to question her. Jimmy clapped, cheering her on. Clark sighed, “Maybe try it without looking like you want to kill someone?” “No, I think the expression works well,” said Querl, holding back a smile when he heard Clark sigh again. “Are you sure you’re both okay with this?” Clark asked for the 523rd time. “Yes,” both Lois and Querl said at the same time. Leaning back, Jimmy played on his phone, “We don’t know anything about your origins, Clark. For all we know being Polyamorous is the norm.” “And there’s no way I want to fight Querl for you,” Lois leaned in and fake whispered, “You know he’d fight dirty.” “You know, I’d win,” Querl stated but did not fully deny. Looking between the two, Clark wondered how he was attracted to two vastly different people who

CxB Week 2023 Monday Sept 25: Holiday(s)
On previous years, Querl and Clark would return to the farm and have dinner with their adoptive parents to celebrate the days that their family found them. Ma and Pa finding Clark as a baby and then Clark finding Querl when they were children. This year, Querl returned to the farm without waiting for Clark to be finished with his shift at the Daily Planet. He did not want to hear how coffee had gone with Lois after their missed date due to Mxyzptlk’s interference. He did not want to see them make love-dovey eyes at each other and kiss in front of him. Jimmy had offered to skip work and go with Querl but Querl insisted he was fine. He had already put Jimmy through enough after crying on his shoulder the night before in a public place none-the-less. When he was in a better mindset, he’d have to delete that place as an option to ever return to. Instead of going straight to the house, Querl went to his silo where he hid his

CxB Week 2023 Sunday Sept 24: Magic
Querl hated Mxyzptlk. He hated magic. He hated the league of Lois Lanes. He hated everything. Except for Clark. Despite everything, he didn’t hate Clark. After Lois and Jimmy were officially in on the know of his and Clark’s secrets, Clark asked Lois out on a date. Jimmy tried to ask him if he was alright afterwards and he insisted that he was fine. He had known this day was coming his whole life. But seeing them kiss during the battle with Mxyzptlk was too much. The moment they were back in their universe, Querl made his first excuse to leave. He had walked quickly but Jimmy still caught up with him, took his arm and walked him to someplace where thy could sit down and get the dinner they missed out on. The world around him seemed far away and Querl couldn’t concentrate on anything around him, which was how Jimmy got him to the diner to begin with. He didn’t even realize the

“But you have to pick a favorite!” Jimmy insisted, following his friend back to the Daily Planet after they stopped for donuts. “I don’t pick favorites,” Clark balanced the coffees on top of the donut box, along with a hot chocolate. “Apple is your favorite pie,” pointed out Jimmy. “Okay, then I don’t pick favorite people,” corrected Clark. That only made Jimmy groan, “I’m not saying that you have to stop being friends with one of them, but you can’t date both of them.” The accusation made Clark blush, even if he knew Jimmy was right. It felt even worse when he spotted the subjects of Jimmy’s question ahead of them. Sitting at a high top table, Lois and Querl were going over some papers and photos together, possibly researching a lead on the stolen tech the group had been researching. Lois sat with her feet on the bottom rungs of the two empty chairs on either side of her, guarding them

CxB Week 2023 Friday Sept 22: Fanfiction Friday
Clark Kent might have been Superman but his day job was still that of an underpaid reporter and he could not afford the latest technologies or, to look at them or daydream about upgrading. He’d still be using his Pa’s old typewriter if Mr. White had not provided an old-fashioned laptop for Clark to write his stories on. Still, persocoms were pretty-interesting; human looking computers like the old days of science fiction brought to life. Though early models started out as all women, the market expanded into men and then small laptop models that could be mistaken for a child’s doll. The main problem Clark found with persocoms, especially the Lifesize models, is that more and more people seemed to concentrate on their persocoms and forget about other people. A person with a persocom, often looked like a couple on a date, rather than a person with their life-like computer. There was even a baker who had been married to his persocom years ago, and gave

CxB Week 2023 Thursday Sept 21: Beginnings
Many years had passed since Clark found Querl in the woods after his attempt at time travel trapped him in the 21st century. He had actually tried to run away when he realized exactly what historical Clark Kent had found him but after Martha Kent, now his Ma, found him and gave him a big hug, he knew he couldn’t leave again, even if it meant altering the time line. Luckily, Jonathon Kent, now his Pa, was friends with the family that ran the salvage yard. He got discounts, if not next to free, scraps of metal and parts to bring back to his new green son to tinker with instead of losing a microwave or toaster on a daily basis to the green tot. Still it surprised him when Querl made a wearable hologram, as small as a wristwatch to hide away his green skin and make his magenta eyes appear more human. Initially, Querl tried to make his skin appear white, to blend in with the Kents but the lighter color made the hologram frequently overheat
